- 4 determine the deflection of beams under arbitrary static loading conditions, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC6
- 5 evaluate the concept of euler buckling and determine the buckling load for columns subjected to different boundary conditions, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC6
- 6 determine the stress state within thick cylinders comprising of different materials and joined using an interference fit, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC6
- 7 demonstrate effective teamwork and communication by collaborating to analyse engineering data, synthesize findings, and produce a structured technical report that meets professional standards, GC3, GC6
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1 Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, and computing underpinning the broad field of engineering
- 2 Solve complex Industrial and Systems engineering problems of industrial and societal significance through the application of discipline-specific and integrated bodies of knowledge, design and sustainability principles
- 5 Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative engineering solutions to complex problems
Assessment Breakdown
Recent Unit Changes & Response to Student Feedback
Students are encouraged to provide feedback through student surveys (such as Insight and the annual Student Experience Survey) and interactions with teaching staff. Listed below are some recent changes to the unit as a result of student feedback. Self-reflection of teaching resources and pedagogical strategies by the academic staff
