Unit Learning Outcomes
- 1 explain and analyse stress and strain induced in engineering structures, especially with regard to small deformation, GC1, GC3, GC6
- 2 extend the application of appropriate equilibrium equations for the analysis of deformable bodies, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC6
- 3 model engineering structures with different loading conditions to calculate induced stresses and strains, GC1, GC3, GC6
- 4 perform design calculations for engineering applications that involve small deformation, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC6
- 5 apply scientific reasoning and critical awareness of engineering modelling to recognise the structure embedded in engineering systems, GC1, GC2, GC3, GC4, GC6
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1 Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, and computing underpinning the broad field of engineering
- 2 Solve complex Industrial and Systems engineering problems of industrial and societal significance through the application of discipline-specific and integrated bodies of knowledge, design and sustainability principles
- 5 Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative engineering solutions to complex problems
Assessment Breakdown
Recent Unit Changes & Response to Student Feedback
Students are encouraged to provide feedback through student surveys (such as Insight and the annual Student Experience Survey) and interactions with teaching staff. Listed below are some recent changes to the unit as a result of student feedback. The assessment style is changed. There will be no mid-semester class test. It will be replaced by 6 online test.
